Every month, we publish payment statistics for the Swedish mass payment market.
The statistics show payments in the Bankgiro system, where both the number of payments and the total amount processed decreased slightly in May compared to the previous year.
In March, 214 million payment transactions were processed through the Bankgiro system. This represents a 2 percent decrease compared to the same month in 2024.
The greatest proportion of payments is from autogiro and internet payments. These two types of payment make up approximately 80% of the total number of payments on the payment side of the Bankgiro system.
The amount processed during May was SEK 1297 billion, which corresponds to an decrease of 1,3% compared to the same month last year.
